Brand// Westons Cider

Project// Brand creation for a new craft cider

Brief// Westons were launching a new, quality craft cider, designed to appeal to a discerning, London-centric customer. The task was to create a brand that captured a modern, craft feel in a market packed with competitors, whilst retaining a sense of pride from the heritage Westons had as one of the first cider makers to venture into the capital.

Solution// London Cider W9 was born. This was a hat-tip to the Harrow Road cider house in West London, where some of the first cider was delivered from the West Country in the early half of the 20th Century.

Inspiration was taken from the signage and wall advertising captured in a photo of the Cider House from Westons’ archive. With a striking font and colour scheme, the new brand successfully captured the edgy, modern feel initially proposed in the brief, whilst subtly nodding to the past with a memorable name that evoked memories of past ventures from Westons.

London Cider W9 launched in July 2019 as an instant crowd pleaser in the bars and pubs of the city. Quickly becoming a sleeper hit with the young crowd targeted by Westons, the brand launched UK wide later in the year and continues to go from strength to strength.
